The 2011 Hurricane season begins June 1st & ends November 30th.

Most of the time when you think of preparing for a hurricane, you think of food and water, but what would you need if you lost everything?

Along with traditional items, be sure to make copies of your social security card, driver’s license, passport, bank account information, credit card company phone numbers and a copy of your current resume on a cd or jump drive.  Keep these important documents securely sealed in water-tight ziplock bags in your Disaster supply kit.

Were you surprised to see your resume made the list of important documents?

If you lost your home, your belongings and had to move to start over, how long do you think it would take you to create a new resume and use it to apply for new jobs?

Get your Disaster Supply Kit ready in case you have to evacuate your home quickly. Here’s what your kit should include:

  • Non-perishable food, snacks & non-electric can opener
  • 1 gallon of water/daily/per person for 3-7 days
  • Blankets & bedding
  • Pet care items: food & water, leashes, toys
  • First Aid kit & prescription medications
  • Flash lights, battery operated radio & extra batteries
  • Full tank of gas in vehicles
